A good friend saw a house she loved in 2006. The house was in a lovely garden square close to Harrods and Knightsbridge. At 3,500 sq ft, it was the right size and had a wonderful if scruffy 60 ft garden. The asking price was £3.85m. After a couple of viewings, an initial offer was made by her at £3.55m. After a nervous few days, the vendor agreed to ‘split the difference’ and indicated he would sell at £3.7m. My pal thought this was too high as the house required mild redecoration and updating (nothing structural mind) and decided to leave £3.55m on the table but not go any higher. The house was eventually sold for the asking price by the way.
The house is back on the market now.
It’s £12,000,000.
And no, I have not told her.
Yet.
